Edgar Matobato, a Senate witness presented by Senator Leila De Lima who testified against President Duterte and claimed that he is one of the members of the 'Davao Death Squad' who allegedly killed criminals during President Duterte's term as Mayor of Davao City got the attention of the public.
CNN Philippines had interviewed the known relatives of Matobato and they shared intertesting stories about him.
According to Nina Capao, the mother-in-law of Edgar Matobato, many people feared him in Samal Island because he is always armed to exploit people for money. He is always hurting his wife and children because of jealousy, but they denied Matobato's wife is cheating.
Nina also described Matobato as barbaric. “They couldn’t get back their money anymore because they are afraid of Edgar. It was Edgar who frequently gets money from them. They give their money to Edgar because he is always armed. He always accuses my daughter of going out with other guys, but my daughter is just staying at home most of the time. He would beat her despite that “ Nina Capao said in a Bisaya dialect.
Capao added that Matobato keeps on making stories and when he appeared on the television, they also don't believed him.
Many alleged victims of Matobato were happy that the self proclaimed member of ‘Davao Death Squad’ leaves Samal and they shared many stories about his bad activities in the Island.
