Actor Mark Anthony Fernandez was arrested Monday night, October 3 by the Angeles City police for allegedly possessing around one kilo of marijuana.
According to a report by ABS-CBN NEWS, the actor is currently detained at the station 6 of the Angeles City Police.
The former matinee idol tried to slip past a police checkpoint at around 8:30 p.m, this is according to Chief Insp. Francisco Guevara Jr.
This led the police to chase his car and forced to shoot the tire of Fernandez's car. He was later arrested in the city of San Fernando.
Police found a kilo of marijuana, with an estimated street value of P15,000, inside Fernandez's car.
An initial report said, that this is not the first time that Mark Anthony Fernandez, the son of the late actor Rudy Fernandez and actress Alma Moreno was involved in illegal drugs. In 2004, Mark Anthony voluntarily entered the Bicutan Rehabilitation Center.
The actor made a showbiz comeback after six months and was seen in several TV shows and movies. He appeared in some GMA TV shows like, Juan Happy Love Story, Rhodora X, andBeautiful Stranger. He was last seen in the movie Ma’Rosa. He first rose to prominence when he was once a former member of one of the famous showbiz teen group, “Gwapings” alongside Jomari Yllana, Eric Fructuoso and later with Jao Mapa.
