PNP Chief Director General Ronald 'Bato' dela Rosa had surprised his fans at "Rakrakan presents OPM Against Drugs" concert with a song number.
'Bato' performed "Darating," originally by BBS featuring Ney, Dello and Kleggy. Backed by Banda ni Kleggy and Dello, the PNP chief drew cheers from the estimated crowd of around 25,000 in what is now considered as his major concert debut.
The PNP Chief said he was happy to be invited to the event so he could grab the opportunity to bring together both the police and rock music fans.
According to him:
“Maganda po ito, dahil gusto nilang ipakita na ang mga rakista ay hindi durugista. Yung advocacy nila ngayon, yung concert nila is against drugs, di ba? Kaya nga andito ako, dahil gusto ko ipakita sa kanila na gusto kong mapalapit sa kanila. Ayaw kong mapalayo sila sa akin. Dahil nga kung mapapalapit sila sa pulis, mapapalayo sila sa drugs.”
Following his performance, 'Bato' appealed to the crowd to support the government's war on drugs.
“Wala pong ibang hangad ang ating presidenteng Rodrigo Roa Duterte kundi linisin ang ating Pilipinas,” he declared as the audience chanted, “Du-ter-te!”
For the first time since the annual rock festival started five years ago, “Rakrakan” has partnered with government agencies in line with its theme, “OPM Against Drugs.”
In line with the theme, the event had anti-drug initiatives in partnership with government groups alongside their usual festival activities like a skateboarding competition and a street art contest.
Several artists pulled out from Rakrakan, however, saying they oppose the extrajudicial killings linked to Duterte's war on drugs.
