'Floating Shabu Laboratory Was Seized By Authorities in Subic, Zambales


A fish carrier vessel that allegedly served as a "floating shabu laboratory" was seized by authorities along the coast of Barangay Calapandayan, Subic, Zambales on Monday, July 11, 2016.

Those who were arrested in the operation were four Chinese from Hongkong. Three of the four suspects are first-timers in the Philippines; one or two of them possibly chemists of the clandestine laboratory. This is according to the Bureau of Immigration (BI). Richard Chua, alien control officer of the BI said that the other one is the captain of the boat.


PNP Director General Ronald dela Rosa, who boarded the fishing vessel said the boat was being used to bring illegal drugs to the Philippines from abroad.

According to him, in two days time, they can make already shabu. They will drop those shabu in the sea, then somebody, a Filipino will pick up in those areas.


Chief Supt. Berto Ferro, the PNP Anti Illegal Drugs Group head said that it is possible that the floating shabu laboratory may have manufactured and delivered the around 180 kilos of shabu which were recovered in Claveria, Cagayan.
