Maria Kris Robles, cute girl from Malabon City, surprised Broadway star Lea Salonga and the other coaches of the voice kids with her decision to perform "Via Dolorosa," an operatic song”. Via Dolorosa is a street in the Old City of Jerusalem which is traditionally held to be the path Jesus Christ walked on the way to his crucifixion.
Salonga said, as she turned her chair around for a kid with an "angelic" voice during the blind auditions of "The Voice Kids":
"May kabigatan nga itong kanta na ito dahil nga sa subject matter niya," Salonga told Robles. "Ngayon lang ata sa buong history ng 'The Voice Kids' ginamit iyang kanta na iyan. Napaka-angelic at napaka-light ng boses mo."
Megastar Sharon Cuneta, who also turned her chair, commended Robles for "not forcing" her voice to sound like an adult. "I like that it was a voice suited to your age," Cuneta said.
Robles opted to join Salonga's team, becoming the 19th contestant to do so. Angel Piñaflor of Laguna followed after her blind audition on Saturday.
