President Duterte, Manny Pacquiao's friend and fan hopes that the boxing champ will stop Jessie Vargas in just four rounds. The President believes Pacquiao can knock out Vargas if he is aggressive and fast in the early part of their fight.
He said in a press conference in Davao City after he visited his parents' graves at the Davao Public Cemetery: "Dapat knockout, at sana mas madalian. Kasi if it goes beyond the seventh, eighth [round] pagod na yan," Duterte explained, while admitting he was in no way a boxing expert.
“Kasi if it goes beyond seven to eight [rounds], pagod na iyan. Wala na masyadong [lakas]. I hope he can do it within the first four rounds. Masapol ni Manny iyan, knock down iyan.”
While President Duterte was still Davao City mayor, Pacquiao a always offered him tickets for him to watch the fight live abroad.
“Every time he fights, he always say, ‘May dalawang ticket ako Mayor para sa ‘yo.’ Magkaibigan na kami niyan kahit hindi pa s’ya sikat."
But the President had no choice but to turn down Pacquiao's offer because he was too busy at work. He just told him that he will pray for Pacquiao.
“I always pray for him... alam ni Manny ‘yan.”
