Man Who Punched A Large Kangaroo To Save His Hunting Dog Could Have Been Killed

This viral video shows an encounter between a 34-year old Australian zookeeper named Greig Tonkins and a large male kangaroo. The man was reportedly out pig hunting with his dog and several friends. He saw that his hunting dog Max was being forced into a headlock by a large kangaroo.

A research scientist from the Australian Museum, Dr. Mark Eldridge said kangaroos normally viewed dogs and dingoes as predators but this one may have been surprised by the hunting dog and reacted differently. And in turn, the kangaroo defended itself instead of running away, and did so by getting the dog in a headlock.

"The kangaroo could’ve potentially choked the dog, but it was wearing armour so that may have protected it from the full force."

But Dr Eldridge said Mr Tonkins was "very lucky" the kangaroo buck did not strike back, deciding instead to flee.

The said video went viral . It was the quick thinking of Greg Bloom who started to film the incident, which happened during a hunting trip.
