Christine Breaks Down in Tears After It’s Showtime Makes Her Look Like a Liar

The recent "EXpecially For You" segment of "It's Showtime" has sparked significant online discussion, particularly involving participant Christine and searchee Axel Cruz. The controversy began when Christine was seen in a video, published by Jhelo Bernabe, crying and expressing her distress to a show staff member, accusing the show of portraying her as a liar. The staff reassured her that they were working on resolving the issue.

The incident stemmed from a previous episode where Axel approached Christine with a high-five and leaned his face close to hers, which was interpreted by some as an attempt to kiss her without consent. Vice Ganda, the main host, publicly called out Axel for his actions, emphasizing the importance of respecting boundaries and women's comfort.

It is said in the show that Christine released a statement indicating that she was not offended by Axel's actions, which led Vice Ganda to announce an apology to Axel. However, Vice later retracted this apology on the show, maintaining that Axel's approach was inappropriate despite Christine's statement.

The situation escalated online, leading to significant backlash against both Christine and Axel. Vice Ganda responded by calling on the public to cease their harsh criticisms. He stressed that the show's intention was to protect Christine's rights and feelings. "At since na-off si Christine, naniniwala ako na hindi mali na na-call out namin si Axel dahil karapatan ng isang babae na tumanggi o umalma kung sa pakiwari niya ay hindi siya komportable sa ikikilos ng sino man sa harapan niya," Vice reiterated.

Vice also shared that extensive discussions occurred involving the show's hosts, staff, production team, management, psychologist, Axel, and Christine. He emphasized that while Christine chose not to publicly express her discomfort in the viral video, her feelings were respected during their private discussions.

In a plea to the public, Vice urged an end to the bashing of Christine and Axel, highlighting that everyone involved learned valuable lessons from the incident.

Vice concluded by accepting any personal criticism directed at him but firmly asked the public to leave Christine and Axel out of it. "It is okay with me if people bash me or say it's my fault, but please stop bashing Axel and Christine," he appealed.

The incident underscores the complexities of handling sensitive issues in public forums and the importance of respectful discourse.
