Jason Francisco and Melai Cantiveros, a celebrity couple whose romance started inside the "Pinoy Big Brother" house, had separated after three years of marriage. They got married on December 9, 2013 at the Holy Cross Parish in General Santos City, three months after Melai announced her pregnancy.
Jason confirmed the split on his "open letter" to their fans circulated online, which was posted on the Instagram account of their only child Amelia "Mela" Lucille who turned two last April.

In the said "open letter" to their fans, Jason narrated how their marital problem rooted from Melai being paired with Carlo Aquino in her recently defunct show "We Will Survive" which aired its finale last July 15.
According to Jason, they had an initial agreement that Melai won't have a partner in the series and that she will only have a leading man for the pilot week.

However, Jason said he felt uneasy everytime his wife would leave for her shoot in Bicol and they would seldom see each other because he's also shooting for "My Super D."
Because of this they started giving each other the cold treatment shoulder, with Jason sleeping in another room.
It was until after two months, Jason find out that the storyline of the show has changed again and Carlo's character is back to being paired with his wife. Jason admitted being mad about the changes, which eventually affected their marriage.

Jason decided to talk to the production behind "We Will Survive" and asked if it would be possible that Melai's love team with Carlo be put in an end since it was affecting their marriage. But the production didn't listen to his plea.
Up to this day, Jason said they were not able to fix their marital problem, which he said was caused by the usual reasoning "trabaho lang."
