The Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT-3) suspended the normal operations of the train line between Santolan and Ortigas stations on Sunday at around 6:30 p.m. due to the lightning that has struck the catenary cable on top of the train.
Cherrie Mercado, the spokesperson of the Department of Transportation said the MRT-3 train stopped after lightning struck the cable that supplies the train's electricity. She also said DOTC Secretary Arthur Tugade has ordered "immediate action" to fully restore the MRT's service.
Passengers in the affected train were told to stay inside the train for 10 minutes before engineers declared that it was safe for them to alight.
By 10 p.m. the train was already in order and by 4:30 a.m. Monday morning, the train is back from its normal operations.
