Pokemon Go is an augmented-reality mobile app that is trending worldwide. Local and international celebrities joined the fun of capturing Pokemons they've seen on the road.
The game's popularity of Pokemon Go in the Philippines was even featured on Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, a GMA-7's weekend magazine show, on its August 14 episode in Japan. In this segment, Lauren Uy and Alodia Gosiengfiao, celebrity bloggers, were invited to talk about their favorite Pokemon.
During the interview, Lauren explained that the app brought back precious memories from her childhood which is probably why a lot of people are joining the Pokemon craze.
The celebrity blogger was asked by Jessica what's her favorite Pokemon. Lauren answered Bulbasaur and added, 'Water siya, 'no? Water Pokemon,' referring to its 'type' or 'element.'
Lauren's comment garnered tons of negative remarks on social media from hardcore Pokemon fans. Pinoy netizens clarified that Bulbasaur is not a Water type Pokemon. It is a grass type Pokemon. Rattata is a Normal-type Pokemon and Pidgey is a dual-type Normal/Flying Pokemon.
A snipet of the video interview became viral on Facebook and has now received over 750,000 views, as of writing.
Lauren apologized on Twitter for her mistake and wrote, 'I feel like I need to apologize to all the Pokemon fans for what I have said. "Sorry po nataranta lang," she added.

ReplyDeleteCelebrity photos have been popular especially during the World War II, when GIs pin up on barrack walls pictures of female movie stars wearing either one-piece swimsuits or low-cut evening gowns. According to historians, the fascination of Americans with celebrity photos started with the illustration "Gibson Girl" that landed on the pages of a magazine in 1887.
