A Netizen And Her Brother Had Triumphed Over Taxi Driver Who Charged Them To Pay P3,600 For NAIA-Cubao Trip

A netizen named Janine Jennilyn shared on Facebook how she and his brother had triumphed over a taxi driver and his companion who attempted to fool them into paying P3,600 on a trip from Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 to a bus terminal in Cubao in Quezon City.

In a Facebook post, Janine and her brother were looking for a cab at the NAIA 3 when a barker offered them a metered taxi. They decided to board the cab since they assumed that they will be charged regular fare for the trip.

But to their surprise, the barker also boarded the taxi after placing their luggage inside the compartment. The barker sat next to the driver, who sped off without saying anything.

Their suspicions were confirmed when halfway through the agreed journey, the driver stopped the taxi and asked them to pay P3,600 for the fare. Although this was not in accordance with their earlier agreement, Janine and his brother agreed to pay the said amount fearing that the two men may hurt or kill them.

However, Janine insisted that they withdraw the money from an ATM since they did not have cash on hand.

Janine asked the driver to drop them to an area near a police station, which the barker and the driver failed to notice.

“Pero dun kami nag pababa sa may malapit sa pulis na nakita namin na hindi naman napansin ng mga taxi driver. Nung narinig nilang sinabi ng kapatid ko na puntahan ko yung pulis, nag madali sila ibaba yung mga bagahe namin sabay sibat kahit nakabukas pa yung mga pintuan ng taxi.”

Janine said they had no intention of shortchanging the driver and are willing to pay the P3,600 but would only do it in front of the police to discuss why they are being overcharged for the short trip.
