Pacquiao Was Convinced That Matobato Is A 'Coached' Witness

During Thursday's Senate hearing on drug-related killings, Manny Pacquiao believed that witness like Edgar Matobato was trained with a coach before he face a public hearing and  make an explosive revelation such as President Duterte's alleged orders to kill several people when he was still Davao City mayor.

“Because of your testimony, pa-iba-iba siya. So iniisip ko talaga na may nag-co-coach sayo, at may nagtuturo sa iyo,” Pacquiao said when he questioned Matobato at the resumption of the Senate hearing on drug-related killings.
“Pag-apppear mo dito sa Senado, ang statement mo, pag-dinig namin, gulat lahat, galing ng statement. Itong pangalawa, salungat doon sa mga statement mo nung una,” Pacquiao added. “I’m sure may nagturo sa’yo.”

Matobato's testimony during the Sept.15 hearing that President Duterte ordered the killing of former Speaker Prosper Nograles' bodyguards were among the discrepancies Pacquiao noted.

Nograles and Duterte used to be political rivals.

However, during Thursday's hearing Matobato said the men whom Duterte ordered killed were not part of Nograles' staff but of a certain General Palparan and Matillano.

Pacquiao also refuted Matobato's claim that he was a bodyguard of incumbent Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, President Duterte's son, in his elementary days in Ateneo in Davao City.

“May record ako dito, pinadala ni Paolo Duterte...Hindi siya nag-elementary sa Ateneo, nag-elementary sa Philippines Women’s College,” the senator said.

Edgar Matobato admitted forgetting some details but insisted he was telling the truth.
