The Senate hearing yesterday was for the issue of extra-judicial killings, with witness Edgar Matobato, a self-proclaimed member of the Davao Death Squad, confessing to the stand that President Rodrigo Duterte was behind the killings in the President’s hometown Davao.
The said hearing was a heated one, where Senator Trillanes had turned off the microphone of Senator Allan Peter Cayetano while he was talking. They were having a heated exchange of words.
This instance happened when Senator Cayetano was speaking to his heart's content, when suddenly Senator Trillanes turned off his microphone.
"Senador ako ha? Binoto ako ng tao dito ha," Senator Cayetano said.
Senator De Lima tried to get in the middle of things by making an effort to calm the two hotheads.
Senator Trillanes' actions was just he's only trying to move on with the hearing because Senator Cayetano has been speaking for more than an hour, which was a luxury for someone who is a non-member.
According to Senator Trillanes: "We have given him more than an hour of leeway, for a non-member that’s a luxury."
"And now as a member, can I assert my right as a member, otherwise I might move to declare Sen Cayetano out of order for consuming the time of the committee of which he is not a member."
