Two of the most distinguished figures in the local music scene are Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid, also known as the Songbird and the Songwriter. They flew to Japan last week with son Nate and friends for vacation.
Her trip to Japan with her family has made a Japanese cab driver named Raffy-san teary-eyed after finding out that the Asia's Songbird is his passenger.
Shared by Regine's other half, Ogie Alcasid posted a video on Instagram documenting the reaction of the cab driver. As seen in the video, Raffy-san could not contain his tears of joy as Ogie interviews him.
"20 years ago, you were listening to OPM music?", he asked the driver.
Raffy-san responded that he did sometimes, but noted that he was most interested listening to Regine.
"Very, very magandang boses," the driver commented in his broken Filipino.
"Regine, number one!", he added, to which Ogie agreed to.
Both Ogie and Regine felt very flattered with all the praises that their cab driver told them. They both thank Raffy-san using the Japanese language and the driver returned back the gratitude by gratefully saying, "Salamat."
The video was taken at Ginza, a district in Tokyo with caption:
“Our Japanese cab driver was in tears after he found out that @reginevalcasid our #songbird was his passenger. #tyLord,”
As of this writing, the video has reached more than 24K views three days after it was uploaded.
