Five policemen were arrested by NBI agents at the Philippine National Police regional headquarters for allegedly behind the kidnapping of Enrique Fernandez III, a former OFW. The victim remains missing.
Authorities identified the suspects as Senior Insp. Ereneo Ramirez, PO3 Alejandro Ubanan, SPO2 Jojo Lim, SPO1 Alaindelon Tacubao and PO2 Sangkula Hussein.
During a press conference Tuesday evening, Lawyer Hans Barbaso, NBI assistant regional director had showed the media the CCTV footage taken outside the establishment where Fernandez was abducted.
The CCTV footage revealed the victim was mauled first by the law enforcers on the street and inside the van where he was transported elsewhere. His motorcycle was also taken.
The alleged kidnappers were identified by a witness and by police officials who saw the CCTV footage.
Although the family was glad that the 5 cops were already arrested by NBI, Fernandez' parents demanded justice for their missing son. They do not know if their son is still alive or dead.
The parents of the victim believed the suspects may have forced Fernandez to negotiate a possible ransom.
According to Jean Fernandez, the victim's mother: They could have possibly negotiated for money with my son but he didn't push through because we didn't receive any call and maybe he died because there was no negotiation anymore."
The mother said that her son is an OFW in Dubai and arrived in the city a year ago. The victim just recently sold a real estate property of considerable worth.
It was all for money and they have an asset who told them my son had money." she added.
