The Supreme Court (SC) ruled on Tuesday, November 8 that former president Ferdinand Marcos can now be buried at the Libingan Ng Mga Bayani (Heroes' Cemetery).
By a vote of 9-5, the High Court rejected petitions that sought to stop the burial of the late dictator. It dismissed all seven cases challenging the proposed burial of the former strongman Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani, two independent Supreme Court sources confirmed to CNN Philippines.
The decision came as the Supreme Court's extended status quo ante order-- extended twice in the past, expires on Tuesday, November 8.
One of President Duterte's campaign promises was that he will allow the burial of Marcos at the LNMB "not becausehe was a hero, but because he was a Filipino soldier."

According to him: "He (the late President Marcos) is qualified to be buried there. Kung ayaw ng ibang Pilipino, fine," Duterte said then. "Mag-demonstrate kayo, go ahead. You can use the streets," he added.
The remains of the late president have been intered and preserved in an airconditioned family mausoleum in Ilocos Norte since 1993.
