Senator De Lima on Sunday, November 20 had warned suspected drug lord Kerwin Espinosa who was brought home by authorities from Abu Dhabi where he had gone into hiding, that he might end up dead just like his father Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr., who was killed in his detention cel even if he cooperated with the authorities.
According to Senator De Lima: "This is my advice to Kerwin. Don’t ever think that your 'cooperation' will spare you your life. Sooner or later this government is going to make sure you end up like your father," said De Lima in a statement on Sunday.
She also make the same prediction for Jaybee Sebastian, a high-profile Bilibid inmate who recently testified before a House inquiry in which he tagged her as a drug protector.
She made the pronouncement ahead of Kerwin's expected appearance in a Senate inquiry on the killing of his father.
The lady senator said she would no longer be surprised if Kerwin, like the Bilibid inmates would also implicate her.
"Be that as it may, I will be listening to Kerwin's testimony, and let the people judge as to its credibility given the circumstances of the moment where drug lords/drug personalities left and right are being stabbed or killed whether they cooperate with the government or not," De Lima added.
De Lima has repeatedly denied accusations by President Duterte and his men that she cuddled drug lords inside NBP and accepted their drug money.
Kerwin is set to testify on Wednesday at the resumption of the Senate inquiry into the killing of his father inside his detention cell. For “security reasons,” Wednesday’s hearing will be held in Camp Crame in Quezon City where Espinosa is detained, according to Sen. Panfilo Lacson, who is leading the inquiry.
