The debut is a traditional Filipino-coming-of-age celebration which celebrates a young woman's 18th birthday, the age of maturity in the Philippines. It is a big milestone for a debutant, with new rights and new responsibilities.

It is also one of the most memorable occasions in a girl's life. Parents take time and money just to throw the best party for their children.
But in this video, celebrating the 18th birthday of a would-be- debutant Ella May Quindoza was impossible for she had already died of ovarian cancer and wasn't able to live up to her 18th birthday.
Saddened by the sudden loss of their daughter, family and friends decided to celebrate her 18th birthday without her physically.

Ella's friends, including the 18 roses and candles went on with the celebration, using Ella's picture in lieu of her physical presence.
Each of Ella’s ’18 roses’ laid a rose on a table where Ella’s picture was placed, before giving their own personal messages for the deceased.
A tarpaulin at the venue read: “A wish granted for her special day…the debutant. [sic]”

Rosalie Carolina Quindoza's Facebook post garnered a lot of heartfelt messages and condolences from hundreds of netizens, reaching 1,300 likes as of this article’s writing.
