Caught on CCTV: Thief Breaks into Sleeping Resident's Room in Antipolo

In the quiet hours of Thursday morning, a chilling incident unfolded in Barangay Mayamot, Antipolo, as captured by CCTV footage: a thief stealthily invaded the home of a sleeping family, leaving them shaken and terrified.

The 22-year-old victim, known only as "Rosie," trembled with fear as she revisited the CCTV footage, depicting the intrusion of a man into their residence while they slumbered alongside their two young children.

The footage reveals the thief's slow entry into their room, making a beeline for a small desk beside their bed, where the victims' belongings lay. It also captures his evasion and stooping every time the sleeping woman stirred.

From the desk, the perpetrator seized two bags containing wallets, jewelry, P20,000 in cash, and two expensive cellphones. Before exiting the room, he even rummaged through larger bags. While not caught on CCTV, the thief also made away with a laptop from their living room and their housemaid's cellphone.

In a matter of minutes, the thief pilfered property worth over P200,000 from Rosie's home, leaving her profoundly shaken.

“Sobrang natakot.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the authorities' response, Rosie voiced concerns about the rampant theft in their barangay, possibly orchestrated by the same suspect.

“Lahat sila natatakot. Lahat sila, binabalewala.

She appeals to other potential victims of theft to come forward, hoping to address the alleged spate of theft incidents and expressing fears for their safety in the barangay.

Barangay Mayamot refutes claims of rampant theft within their community. Desk officer Melanie Laude asserted that they continuously respond to and patrol areas affected by such incidents.

The barangay official emphasized their efforts to prevent crimes and theft in their area.

“Kapag ganyan, kapag may nag-report sa amin, humihingi ng assistance, kapag police matters, nakikipag-coordinate.”

The Antipolo Police are continuing their investigation into the incident, promising thorough scrutiny and action.
