Diwata, Street Food Sensation, Arrested for 2018 Assault Case

In a surprising turn of events, popular street food sensation "Diwata," whose real name is Deo Balbuena, was arrested on April 16 for an alleged case of slight physical injuries dating back to 2018.

The Pasay City Police executed an arrest warrant against Balbuena, known for his "Diwata Pares" street food stall along Diokno Boulevard in Barangay 76. The warrant, issued by Presiding Judge Allan Ariola of Pasay City Metropolitan Trial Court, stemmed from an incident on May 5, 2018, where Balbuena reportedly caused a commotion under the Diokno Bridge.

During the incident, Balbuena allegedly struck construction worker Rogelio Magallanes' head with a bamboo stick while Magallanes was resting under the bridge, resulting in injuries. Subsequently, Magallanes filed a complaint at the city prosecutor’s office.

Balbuena was apprehended by Pasay City police officers at 10 a.m. along Diokno Boulevard and was released at around 12 noon after posting a P3,000 bail.

While the incident came to light recently, Balbuena gained fame for his unli pares street food offerings in Pasay City and even made appearances in popular TV series like "FPJ's Batang Quiapo."

As this story unfolds, it serves as a reminder that fame and popularity do not exempt individuals from accountability for their actions, highlighting the importance of addressing legal matters responsibly.
