BREAKING NEWS: Miriam Defensor Santiago Had Already Passed Away, According To Her Husband


Miriam Defensor Santiago, a former senator and notable for having served in all three branches of the  of the Philippine government – judicial, executive, and legislative had passed away Thursday, September 29 after a bout with lung cancer, her husband Atty. Jun Santiago said.

"She died peacefully in her sleep this morning," her husband told the Inquirer.


The former lawmaker divulged in 2014 that she had stage 4 lung cancer. She died at age 71.


 He said Santiago passed away at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig City, where she had been taken on and off for complications of her ailment. 


Some of Miriam's alma maters include University of the Philippines, University of Michigan, Oxford University, Maryhill School of Theology, University of California, Harvard University, and Cambridge University.
