President Duterte said he heard that the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is out to kill him. This was revealed in a speech delivered before the Filipino community in Hanoi, Vietnam on Wednesday evening.
“Sabi nila pa-plano-plano raw ang CIA na patayin ako. Susmaryosep, ginoo.” President Duterte jokingly asked the CIA to allow him first to realize that he was the top government official in the country. Earlier reports said that there were alleged plan to assassinate President Duterte.

Based on the testimony by Wilford Palma, who was arrested by the authorities over smuggled gun parts from the United States, one of their regular customers had told them about the assassination plot against the President.
President Duterte said he is willing to put his life at stake as he is committed to fulfill his mandate to serve the Filipino people.
The president has repeatedly criticized the US for calling him out over alleged human rights violations linked to his war on drugs, even as he attempts to seek new alliences which analysts say could alienate the Philippines' long-time treat ally.
In recent speeches, Duterte has indicated that he wants to distance the Philippines from the US and forge new alliances with China and Russia, two countries with communist roots which have sparred with the Western superpower in the international stage.
Duterte also announced in his speech in Hanoi on Wednesday that the upcoming war games among Filipino and American soldiers will be the last. However, the Philippines remains committed to its ties with the US.
