Illegal firecracker sends Bato, and the PNP into panic mode

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa and several other policemen visits firecracker stalls in Bocaue, Bulacan last Thursday. During their inspection they were thrown into panic mode when suddenly this illegal firecracker called “GOODBYE DELIMA” emitted smoke

According to GMA News TV flash report said Dela Rosa was showing different kinds of illegal fireworks to the members of the media when the firecracker he was holding fumed.

A report by Mariz Umali on "24 Oras" said the firecracker Dela Rosa was holding was called "Goodbye, De Lima."
"Ewan ko kung merong bad omen yun. Basta ang importante hindi tayo nasabugan. Bahala na kung kantyawan niyo ako na tumakbo ako, okay lang sa'kin yun," Dela Rosa said in the "24 Oras" report.

"Kayo nga tumakbo rin naman kayo, hindi lang naman ako ang tumakbo. Iniwan niyo mga camera niyo di ba? Patas lang tayo," he added, addressing the media who covered the inspection.

The incident caused a commotion among those present in the inspection, including the media.
Bulacan police provincial director Senior Superintendent Romeo Caramat Jr. immediately threw the firecracker to a nearby open space where it was doused with water by barangay officials.

"Bibitawan mo, 'di ba? Normal yun. Bibitawan mo talaga pag nakita mong nasusunog ng di mo nasisindihan bibitawan mo talaga. Sana kung meron ka pang presence of mind ibato sa walang tao na matamaan pag yun ay sumabog," Dela Rosa said.

Dela Rosa was accompanied by the PNP Civil Security Group during the inspection, the report said. (GMA News)
