A hug is an act of holding someone tightly in one's arms, typically to express affection. Our hug to someone can mean a lot of different things.
1. The Bear Hug
*This hug is powerful, you use all your strength to hug your partner. It's most common when you're relieved or when you haven't seen your partner in a long time.
2. Hug From Behind
*This is a very intimate hug in any setting, and a playful hug, but it has understones of protection; you're sheltering your partner from others.

3. The Quick Hug
*This hug is all about politeness. the person you're hugging will try to immediately end the hug, sometimes throwing in a quick pat on the back to reinforce that its not romantic.
4. The Side Hug
*This is commonly used as a "polite hug."It's often shared between family members and typically has no romantic implications.

5. The Hug With A Pat
* If you pat someone on the back while hugging them, you're trying to comfort them...or reinforce that the hug isn't romantic. It's a common hug between friends. The people who do the "hug with a pat" are the same type of people that hover their hands over their friends' shoulders when taking pictures.
6. The Flirty Hug
*This hug seems friendly, but lingers for an extra second or two. Also, the other person might try to pick something off your clothing or find some other way to maintain contact.

* This is a hug where one person's doing all the hugging. The implications are obvious; one person's not feeling the love.
