Julia Catherine Agoncillo, graduating with a BA Kasaysayan degree on June 26, is one of this year's summa cum laude graduates at the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman. She has made history as she is the first female summa cum laude of the UP Department of History --- being the fourth person to graduate summa cum laude from her department. The three other summa cum laude graduates of the UP Department of History are all males.
Julia has a general weighted average of 1.122 and did not plan on graduating with honors.
As a student, Julia had joined four organizations, serving as an officer in the UP Marine Biological Society (UP MBS). According to her, "I was most active in UP MBS given my advocacy on the marine environment as well as my hobbies of swimming and diving."
Julia did not have any special study habits, she just stands by efficient time management and note-taking as secrets to her success. It also pays to be organized, according to her.
