Scientists believed that smelling farts prevents cancer, among other diseases. Although the stinky gas can be noxious in large doses, scientists believe that a whiff here and there has the power to reduce risks of cancer, strokes, heart attacks, arthritis and dementia by preserving mitochondria.

According to scientists, the cells draw in enzymes to produce “minute quantities of hydrogen sulfide” which protects the mitochondria when disease stresses the cells.

Smelling farts can be good to your health. But before you go inhaling farts, it should be noted that the experiment was limited to cell exposure in the laboratory. This means that the research done is still preliminary and researchers are ‘working toward advancing the research to a stage where it can be tested in humans.”
