Supermarket in Mandaluyong City Earns Praises for Hiring People with Autism

People with autism are often discriminated in our society. They often find it difficult to feel that they belong in a society. They also find hard time in looking and finding jobs that can be suitable to them.

Thanks to the wonderful people from the Autism Society Philippines (ASP), a non profit organization,  who are battling to help those with autism feel more confident and earn their place in the community.

In partnership with SM Markets, SM Cares, Independent Living Learning Centre (ILLC Philippines), UP College of Education and UP-CAMP, the ASP was able to help persons with autism find a job. Thanks to the ASP Career Placement Initiative.

ASP recently posted photos of three men with autism as they patiently and diligently sorting groceries at a Savemore branch at Light Mall in Mandaluyong City.

Netizens praised the supermarket for giving employment opportunities to people with special needs to get jobs.

The photos has gone viral on Facebook with over 9,000 likes and more than 3,200 shares as of writing.

A cafe in Quezon City last year also gained media attention for employing people with autism.
