The International Space Station (ISS) has released night time photos of the Earth, illuminated by the moon, city lights and thunderstorm at an altitude of 249 miles.
The ISS provided us with some of the most breathtaking views of our planet due to its location in low-earth orbit.
The nighttime photos, posted on ISS' Facebook page, include those of Strait of Gibraltar, southern tip of Italy, and the northern Egypt and the Sinai Peninsula.
The new series of photos released by the ISS and the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration remind us how beautiful our home really is. The beauty of these photos offers us a perspective of our planet the vast majority of us will never see in person.
