Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II said a stabbing incident happened at around 7:40 a.m. Wednesday, September 28 inside Building 14 of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City.
A Chinese drug lord who was identified as Tony Co had died while three other high-profile inmates including Jaybee Sebastian and Peter Co were hurt.
According to Aguirre, Peter Co was in critical condition while Jaybee Sebastian was already in a stable condition at the Medical Center of Muntinlupa City.
Another high-profile inmate, Vicente Sy was also hurt in the incident and was rushed to the hospital.
The stabbing incident started when an inmate Edgar Cinco saw Vicente Sy and the two Co's using shabu inside a cell and told Dongail who confronted the three.
Dongail then went into Sebastian's cell where the brawl ensued at around 7:40 a.m.
"Sumugod si Tony Co, sinugod si Major (Dongail)at nagkaroon ng riot [Tony Co charged at Major and a riot ensued], said Aguirre.
But as to who stabbed whom, the secretary said they still have to investigate.
Aguirre earlier this week said Jaybee Sebastian was suddenly unwilling to testify about Senator De Lima's ties to the Bilibid drug trade.
Dongail, on the other hand is one of three former cops who were convicted for a 2003 kidnap-murder case in Bacolod City.
