Rematch At Pinoy Pride 38: 'King' Arthur Villanueva Knocks Out Mexican Opponent Juan Jimenez

Filipino bantamweight "King" Arthur Villanueva retained his WBO Asia Pacific Bantamweight belt in spectacular fashion, knocking out his Mexican opponent Juan Jimenez in the second round of their rematch Saturday at the StubHub center in Carson, California on Saturday.

Villanueva defeated Jimenez when they first fought in May 2016, as the Mexican opponent was knocked out cold following a clash of heads.

This time, however, it was Villanueva's fists that spelled the difference as he landed a brutal right hook that connected on Jimenez's jaw, sending the Mexican sprawling face down on the canvas.

The time of stoppage was at the 2:20 mark of the second round, giving Villanueva the 26th win of his professional career against only one loss.

"Hindi po ako nage-expect na ganoon kabilis matapos ang laban. Sinunod ko lang po ang instruction ng coaches ko," said Villanueva after the bout. "Pinag-aralan ko ng mabuti ang last fight namin."

Villanueva improved to 30 wins with one loss, with 16 victories coming by way of knockout. Jimenez who came in to the fight overweight at 119 pounds, drops to 22-11 in his career.
