The Presidential Communication of the Philippines had finally released two new commercials about drug use. The new TV commercials will be aired on major networks, especially in government media arm PTV4 and RTVM. It will also be seen on malls for free.
The said commercials aim to discourage drug use. It urges everyone to quit using illegal drugs because there is still hope for them to change their lives.
The new commercials are entitled "Father" and "Mother." The commercials were directed by Brillante Mendoza, a highly- acclaimed director who also directed President Duterte's State of the Nation Address.
In "Father" it showed how a father missed all of her daughter's important events like birthdays, graduation, and wedding because of his addiction to illegal drugs. In his deathbed, the father felt regret for missing out on those things.
In "Mother," the mother is an Overseas Filipina Worker that is not aware that her son in the Philippines is already addicted to illegal drugs. She's not aware that her son is already spending all her hard-earned money for his vice.
Her son got into a conflict when he killed another person, now he is calling her mother for help but it's already too late because the authorities are already chasing him.
Both commercials aim to deliver the message that there is nothing but regret when using drugs and that there is still time to change.
The commercials received positive response from the netizens saying: “This is the reality for Filipinos who works in abroad and very sad it's happened every day, drugs kills the family. Let us support the new government fight against drugs and criminality.”
“Ang galing ng message nito, wag natin ipagpalit ang sandaling ginhawa na dulot ng droga sa ating mga mahal sa buhay."
