A 68-year old woman named Tamara Samsonava from St. Petersburg, Russia recently made headlines after being arrested for brutally killing 79-year old Valentina Ulanova.
The self-confessed killer gave Ulanova an overdose of sleeping pills before dismembering her body with a hacksaw while she was still alive. The body was later discovered near a pond in Dimitrova St., St. Petersburg. Samsonava killed Ulanova after a quarrel over unwashed cups, she told police investigating the murder.
Dubbed by the media as 'Granny Ripper,' Samsonava allegedly had a penchant for gauging out and eating lungs, it is claimed. Other internal organs were found missing in her victim's bodies. According to detectives, it is even highly probable that Samsonava was a cannibal.
Police finally pinpointed her as the killer of Valentina Ulanova after a CCTV footage showed her disposing the victim’s body in a black plastic bag.
Samsonava wrote about murdering 11 people in her diary which the investigators found in her home. It has been claimed that Samsonava may have dismembered, beheaded and ate her victims during a 20-year spree in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Samsonava is also suspected of murdering her husband who she reported missing in 2005. His body has never been found.
