A doctor at a public hospital in Batangas named Dr. Drolah Sanchez was about to leave her job, felt like quitting because her job requires her to work 48 hours straight. She would endure hunger, exhaustion, and sickness in exchange of the joy she gets from being able to help others, especially those who are in need.
But one miraculous event has stopped her -- the birth of baby Maria Teresa. She could not believe that a baby, who came out pale, no heartbeat, no breathing, not even a single trace of life, came back to life.
The doctor recalled those precious moments -- it was 5:40 a.m. when Prescila Catarinim, the 20-year old mother, about to give birth at that time was rushed to their hospital. The medical team found that it won't be a normal delivery. Dr. Sanchez, weary and feeling giving up had ran into the room crying and praying to God.
The baby did not show any signs of life due to all complications she suffered from being in her mother's womb for 42 weeks.
Dr. Sanchez continued weeping. She started praying to St. Teresa. The doctor asked for a sign. If the baby will not return to life, she will resign from her job as she can’t manage to do all the work in the hospital. They tried reviving the baby for 15 minutes, but still, nothing changed.
Another minute had passed. One of the nurses told Dr. Sanchez to stop because the baby was already dead. She continued reviving, to the doctor's surprise, the baby came back to life and started to breathe on her own after 25 minutes.
Dr. Sanchez on being asked why she thinks this miracle happened, the doctor said: “Kung mababasa niyo 'yung pinost ko sa social media, sabi ko dinadala tayo ng Diyos kung para saan tayo. Huwag na tayo magtanong. Isang reason siguro, kung hindi ako nadala sa Lobo Hospital at hindi ako 'yung doktor na nandoon, baka hindi nabuhay 'yung bata.”
“Para sa akin, itong mag-inang ito 'yung milagrong nangyari sa akin kasi pinakita nila sa akin not to give up, na lahat ng miracle nandito lang sa tabi natin basta kailangan lang natin ng faith,” Dr. Sanchez added.
The baby's mother named her daughter Maria Teresa after St. Teresa of Calcutta whom Dr. Sanchez believed to have caused the baby's miracle.
