Antonio Nievas, an Argentinian farmer had found a gigantic egg while he was taking a walk in his farm near a river. The gigantic egg was almost one meter long, it was black and had a rocky structure.

The farmer thought it was a dinosaur egg the first time he saw it. Immediately scientists came to the scene. But contrary to what he assumed, it was a fossilized remains of gliptodonte.
The gliptodonte was a prehistoric animal very similar to a giant armadillo. It is a belief that this species became extinct during the Ice Age about 10,000 years ago. The gliptodontes were huge in size and some of them were 3 meters long.

The discovery to the gigantic egg is vital for paleontologists' research which they hope will lead to further developments in their study about the extinct species.
