Meta's services, including Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, and Threads, are currently experiencing a widespread outage, leading to thousands of users being unexpectedly logged out.
Reports began surging around 10:30 a.m. ET, with users encountering errors when attempting to access the platforms. Many users reported being logged out of Facebook and receiving error messages when trying to log back in.
Instagram users also noted that their feeds were not refreshing as expected.
The outage appears to be caused by a disruption in Meta's services, affecting various functionalities across its platforms. Even Meta Quest headsets, impacting Horizon Worlds usage, are affected.
Despite the inconvenience, users need not worry about their passwords being compromised, as the issue stems from a system-wide disruption rather than security breaches.
Over 300,000 reports have been logged on Down Detector, with numerous complaints flooding Twitter and other social media platforms.
Andy Stone, Meta's head of communications, acknowledged the outage on Twitter/X, although the company has yet to provide an official statement regarding the issue.
We will provide updates as the situation progresses and await further information from Meta regarding the restoration of services.
