Actress and entrepreneur Neri Naig-Miranda, wife of Parokya ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda, was apprehended on Saturday, November 23, by the Southern Police District (SPD).
The arrest stemmed from allegations of estafa and violations of the Securities Regulation Code, according to a report by ABS-CBN News. A video of the arrest was also shared on social media by ABS-CBN News, showing a police officer reading the warrant of arrest while Naig was at a convention center in a Pasay City mall.
The Pasay City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 111 issued the warrant on September 18 and October 16, 2024. Naig was listed as the 7th most wanted person at the station level for 14 counts of securities violations. The court set a recommended bail of ₱126,000 for each count.
On Wednesday, a jail officer confirmed that Naig, listed under the name "Nerizza Miranda," was transferred to the Pasay City Jail Female Dormitory at around 12:02 p.m. by facility warden J/Supt. Jundelina Jagunap.
In addition to securities violations, Naig is facing a separate estafa case before the RTC Branch 112, for which a commitment order has been issued with no bail recommended.
As this high-profile case unfolds, it has drawn significant public attention, especially given Naig’s prominence as an actress and businesswoman.
