A Prisoner Rescued A Detention Officer After He Was Violently Attacked By Another Inmate


An inmate was caught on video, as security camera were rolling, jumping to the rescue of a detention officer who was attacked by another inmate at Payne County Jail. He came to the officer's rescue and helped him get the man under control.

Tashka Maret is accused of assaulting detention officer Matthew Hudson inside the Payne County Jail in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Inmate Tashka asked the detention officer to use the restroom since there wasn't one inside his cell. Court documents stated that Tashka attacked Matthew after the officer opened the door of his booking cell.

The two wrestled for a bit, all the while, Robert Hammock was was waiting to be released from the facility when he jumped to the officer's rescue, the Stillwaters Press reported. He gave Tashka a big bear hug and pulled the fighting inmate off the officer.

And Hammock returned to his seat on the bench waiting to be let out.

Authorities are grateful that Hammock stepped in to rescue the officer but hope that type of accident doesn't happen again.

The detention officer was check out by doctors at the hospital, but had no serious injuries.

As for Maret, he's now facing an additional charge of assault and battery against a police officer.
