The Movie and Television Review and Classification (MTRCB) summoned Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) executives after a teen Badjao contestant named Rita Gaviola was teased in an episode of 'PBB' prior to a very controversial episode.
Rita Gaviola, popularly known as "Badjao Girl" was teased during an episode of the show. She said to be washing dishes during the episode, then the other housemates started laughing at her after showing one of her garments.
Factors like the Rita's age and her role as a representative of an indigenous group were considered in the MTRCB's decision to call a conference with the show's team.
"With the above, and considering further the age as well as gender of the concerned housemate, not to mention the representation made in your program that she belongs to an indigenous group or people of the Philippines, we are impelled to ask your attendance, through your authorized representative/s at a conference scheduled for 18 August 2016, 10:30 a.m. at the MTRCB Adjudication Room," says the letter.
