Ronnie Dayan, the former driver and alleged bagman and boyfriend of Senator Leila De Lima has been arrested by authorities on Tuesday, November 22 at 11:30 a.m. in Brgy, San Felipe, San Juan, La Union.
Dayan who hid for a couple of months was ordered arrested for not attending the congressional inquiry into the proliferation of illegal drugs at the New Bilibid Prison, where several witnesses said Senator De Lima asked convicted crime lords to sell drugs to beef up her campaign kitty for the 2010 senatorial elections.
Weeks ago, the lady senator admitted her relationship with her driver Dayan who allegedly involved in illegal drug trade. Senator De Lima maintained she never accepted drug payoffs.
Dayan's arrest came a week after the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption offered P1 million for information on the whereabouts of Senator De Lima's driver.
Netizens are expected that Dayan is secured because they believed that the driver is the only one who can prove if Senator De Lima is really involved in illegal drugs.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) said that they are going to present Ronnie Dayan in the press at 4pm.
