Ronnie Dayan, Senator De Lima's former driver and alleged boyfriend and who was cited in contempt for snubbing the congressional inquiry was arrested in La Union on Tuesday, November 22.
Dayan confessed in a signed affidavit that he read before the House of representatives Committee on Justice on Thursday, November 24, that he had a 7-year relationship with Senator De Lima since 2007 when she was still at her law firm and ended in 2015 when she was justice secretary. He added that they had broken up because the lady senator had found a new boyfriend.

Dayan said he wanted to attend the ongoing probe, so he asked his daughter Hannah Mae to text Senator De Lima to ask what he should do after Dayan's sister received a supoena from Congress because the senator was not replying to his text messages.
I-extend mo ‘yan kasi tuwing nagte-text ako hindi siya nagre-reply eh,” Dayan said during the resumption of the congressional inquiry.
“Gustung-gusto kong attendan ‘yung hearing pero ang sabi ni Ma’am sa text niya sa aking anak na si Hannah Mae Dayan, ‘Pakisabi sa kanya magtago lang siya… Kagagawan nila Speaker Alvarez at dikta ni Digong. Pagpasiyensyahan lang at kaming dalawa kapag mag-appear siya sa hearing,” he added.
The exchange of text messages between Senator De Lima and Dayan's daughter, whom she refers to as Tita Li happened on October 1. The senator reportedly told Dayan's daughter to tell her father that he should not attend the House probe, because his presence would only stir controversy and turn both of them into a laughing stock. “”Huwag mo siyang pa-attend… pagkakaguluhan lang siya,"
Hannah Mae provided other details about her exchange with the senator. She reportedly asked if her father would not be arrested should he refuse to appear at the House probe to which Senator De Lima replied: "Di ba nagtatago naman siya?"

Dayan has been the subject of manhunt since the House began its probe into the illegal drug trade in New Bilibid Prison and the senator's alleged involvement in its proliferation but Senator De Lima has denied all these allegations.
