Employer Raising Funds For Filipina Maid Who Suffered Stroke With Massive Bleeding In The Left Brain

Felicidad Muna Mico, is a Filipina maid caring for Madam Dora Sern and her three children.

Sern’s son, Eugene, found the maid unconscious on the sofa of their home on October 27, 2016. She was rushed to the Changi Hospital and admitted to the ICU.

The employer said: “She was diagnosed as having suffered a hemorrhagic stroke with massive bleeding in the left brain, but slowly showed progress."

The Singaporean family watched their beloved "Felice" hooked to various tubes at Changi General Hospital's (CGH) intensive care unit (ICU) for a week.

Mico's hospital bills will cost an estimated $55,000. Madam Sern shared her helper's plight on crowd-funding site GiveAsia last Wednesday. So far, she has raised more than $8,000.

She estimates that Mico would be needing SGD86,600 to cover everything from the hospital bill, rehab and after-care in the Philippines to basic provisions for her and her family for a year.

As of latest, a total of SGD38,430 had been donated by 248 people.

The doctor decided she was fit to fly. She left for Manila by air ambulance with a nurse. And now, she's back in the country. The maid will be transferred to a hospital near her hometown, about 8 hours away from the capital.
