Footage Released of Apollo Quiboloy’s 'Peaceful' Surrender and Arrest

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has released footage showing the surrender and subsequent arrest of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, bringing an end to weeks of search efforts. Quiboloy "peacefully" surrendered on Sunday evening after being cornered by police inside the KOJC compound, following numerous negotiations with authorities, according to the PNP.

In a press briefing on Monday, Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos and PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil presented Quiboloy alongside his co-accused, Jackielyn Roy, Ingrid Canada, Cresente Canada, and Sylvia Cemañes, to the media. The authorities stated that Quiboloy had been hiding inside the compound, which led to a standoff before his eventual surrender.

PNP PRO11 Regional Director Nicolas Torre III explained that they gave Quiboloy’s camp a deadline to surrender, thr3atening that police would forcibly enter the building if he did not comply. However, the deadline was extended to avoid chaos and ensure that no h4rm would come to anyone involved.

Despite these measures, Marbil noted that Quiboloy’s camp engaged in a “game of deception,” where they continuously promised to surrender but failed to do so. This forced the police to increase pressure on the camp and set a firm deadline for Quiboloy to emerge.

Quiboloy ultimately had two conditions for his surrender: to board a government plane and not see Torre’s face during the process. PNP officials said that Quiboloy had no other options left, leading to his peaceful surrender.

Interior Secretary Abalos also dismissed rumors that Quiboloy had surrendered from outside the compound, clarifying that these were fabricated stories. He warned those who aided Quiboloy in evading arrest that they, too, would face charges for harboring a fugitive.

The PNP’s release of footage documenting the arrest highlights the end of the high-profile search and subsequent capture of Quiboloy, a controversial figure linked to multiple legal cases both in the Philippines and internationally.
