Know What PNP Chief General 'Bato' Dela Rosa Has To Say to the Suspect in the Quiapo Road Rage Shooting


The suspect in the Quaipo road rage shooting, Vhon Tanto, was arrested in Masbate on Friday 11:40 a.m. July 29.

He was an army reservist who shot and killed a bicycle rider, Mark Vincent Geralde following a fistfight over a minor traffic altercation along P.Casal St. in Quiapo, Manila.

Senior Supt. Joel Coronel, director of the Manila Police District issued a statement on Saturday after the suspect was turned over to police authorities. Coronel said Tanto attempted to flee but was cornered by the police and the military. The suspect peacefully surrendered. 

Tanto was presented to PNP Chief Director Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa at the Manila Police District headquarters. According to General "Bato", guns should be "last resort for defense." Dela Rosa also said that he would teach the suspect how to throw a punch properly.

Aside from the PNP chief, Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II, Public Attorney's Office (PAO) chief Persida Acosta and the victim's family were also present.

Vhon Tanto was brought to the Department of Justice (DOJ) for the inquest proceedings for charges of murder and frustrated murder.
