LOOK: Solar Powered Cooker That Functions At Night. Check Out Details Here

We always wanted gathering outdoors on a sunny day by roasting meat, fish, corn on the cob, steak to connect with the family, neighbors and friends. Unfortunately, the grills we are being used are harmful to the environment, whether we use wood chips, charcoal, or propane, it releases emissions and creates poor air quality.

An MIT professor named David Wilson found the perfect solution for us to barbeque without ruining the environment. He had developed a new solar energy that will bring a solar cooker that functions at night. It can gather up to 25 hours of cooking power at temperatures more than 450 degrees Fahrenheit. This is made possible by using Fresnel lens which holds the energy of the sun and utilizes that to melt lithium nitrate. This serves as the cooker’s thermal-storing battery.

According to the MIT professor: “There are a lot of solar cookers out there, but surprisingly not many using latent-heat storage as an attribute to cook the food.” There have been solar cookers, grills, and ovens made before, but they all had to be used during the day to function.

Wilson came up with the idea to create this technology when he visited Nigeria where their standard cooking method uses wood which results with issues like respiratory illnesses, deforestation, and women vulnerable to rape while searching for firewood to be used for cooking.

The professor's invention will greatly benefit those in developing nations who rely on wood to cook their food.
